Do Everything and Die Trying

Green US flag hat vet by Michael P Wright

1998 was a good year. 2018 was pretty damn good too.

My military career is finished, but this doesn’t feel like the end of anything except wearing a uniform. When I transitioned into the military 20 years ago, I was excited but terrified. Leaving the military, I feel like that kid all over again but without the anxiety – well, LESS anxiety.

I’ll try to describe it. It’s like I get to TRY anything. I got a ticket to very literally be whoever I want. It’s just awesome. It really is.

Now that I’ve been retired for three months, I’ve realized my biggest obstacle is focusing on one idea/project/goal at a time.

I’m fighting daily with the urge to do EVERYTHING which sounds just fine to my core: I prefer chaos over organization. But it’s just not practical in application. Not at all.

The kid in me is strong.

So my personal mission: giving one idea attention at a time.
