Yesterday, a Turo Guest returning a vehicle told me my messages were helpful but too long. I genuinely appreciated that feedback and began thinking of ways to trim the fat, so to speak. Naturally, ChatGPT – my unofficial virtual assistant – came to the rescue. I’ll show you the full text before and after versions of two key automated messages I send Turo Guests.

I have a handful of messages I send to a Turo Guest throughout their trip. When an automation tool in Turo, I schedule the messages to be delivered at key times.

In the Turo app, I use the automated message feature to deliver messages at specific times before/after a trip. For example, one message giving a Guest my expectations for cleaning is delivered 12 hours before the end of their trip. That’s one of the messages I’ve asked ChatGPT to shorten for me.

First, I decided I want readers to be able to read the message in less than 90 seconds. The average adult can read between 200 to 300 words per minute.* For the sake of this exercise, I aimed to keep my new message under 200 words.

I’m happy with the outcome. The new message reads in 1 minute according to the average adult reading speed. In the final version, I clean up some small things in the language, but in all, it is a mission accomplished with very very little input from me.
