Dad and I talked about the books we’re writing — his memoir and my Book 1. It turns out I hadn’t told Dad the content of the first book I want to publish. We caught up, and he told me found a 2-time published author who has signed on the type his manuscript.

That’s seriously awesome because Dad has been handwriting his book. That’s hardcore having those pagers be the single copy of his writing. In fact, the idea triggers my anxiety.

I do appreciate the idea of handwriting though – especially because of how easy it is to add notes than on a digital word processing application. However, handwriting is slower than for me than typing, and if I also hand-wrote drafts of Book 1, I too would hire someone to transcribe the text. It’s not that I couldn’t type it up: it’s that that kind of work is exhausting, and I don’t want to hate the book. So, handwriting is not an option. Evernote is capable.

Book 1 Status

How is Book 1 going? It’s going very OK. I haven’t written any notes in a few months. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about going back to the first step in writing a book — as I understand — to the outline. I never wrote an outline.

So, in addition to adding notes or chapters, my next significant move is drafting an outline.
