After school started 9 August, I changed my week day pickup hours in Turo. I made the CRV available between from 1pm until 9pm. Class lunch time is scheduled for 12-1pm. I figured I could take a 10 minute break to handoff the keys since class is online for now.
After a couple of those trips, I decided I didn’t want my class time to be interrupted at all. So now on weekdays, the CRV can be picked up and dropped off from 4pm to 9pm.
Booking has definitely taken a hit. For August, I made just enough to cover the car payments of the CRV and Clarity. I’m not complaining — just noting. Extra income is income.
Raised Price
Also, I decided to raise the price again — see calendar image above. It’s a pretty high price in comparison to the Turo recommended daily rate of $33. I want to cuss see that BS. If I asked for only $33 per day, I’d take home only $26.40. These mofos.
Anyway, I raised it to $50 because I honestly don’t want to be bothered by the trouble of bad renters. I haven’t had many problems, but there is no painless way to solve the problems.
So yeah I’m sure the slowdown in bookings is a combination of school season, my lack of morning pickup times, and the price. I’m ok with that. If my earnings drop to under $500 per month, I’ll consider making some changes.
The good news is that I can offer my good renters a 15% off coupon for their next trip with me. That’s a feature I really appreciate. Right now, the CRV is on a trip with my first repeat renter. They cashed in their 15% coupon — boom.
