Making the Transition from Military to Self-employed Creative Easier

After the military, I expected that going full-time creator was going to be tough, but I definitely underestimated the transition curve.

You cannot go cold turkey from the structure of a military career to work from home, self-employed situation. Well, you can, but not smoothly.

Structure Transition after the Military

Considering the last year and a half, I think I could be a lot farther along had I structured the transition better. There are so many resources introduced to us like the Boots to Business program and Small Business Development Centers. I’m sure there’s more that are specific to Vets.

My point is that there are too many out there to take an ‘I’ll figure it out’ approach.

So, today I dusted off a book I got during a military separation course. I’ve noticed there are some really basic steps that I missed on my self-employment journey.
