I walked into the gym on base this morning highly motivated and ready to conquer cardio. I was stopped by a gentlemen who introduced himself as an Editor for The Redstone Rocket newspaper, Redstone Arsenal’s weekly print publication.

He asked me if I’d like to answer a few questions about my fitness endeavors, and I was glad to agree. I like being asked questions especially open-ended. The questions started with where my fitness journey began, and I got to reminisce about track & field and cross country.

Then, we went on to highlight my family background, military caterer, and profession. The whole thing might’ve taken 15 minutes.

I thought it was interesting that the Editor was taking notes old school with pencil and pad, but I respected his process. Still though, I was curious why he would also use a voice recorder in addition to the handwritten notes to keep the flow of conversation uninterrupted. That part was strange, but I didn’t dwell on it.

He also got snapped some photos of me on the stairclimber machine. I did my best, but there’s no looking fit in this fat suit. I told him the best outcome of the article is that it adds a layer of accountability to my sticking to a workout routine.

By the way, I asked ChatGPT for a weekly workout program that combines weightlifting and cardio. I’ll share it in a future post.
