I’ve upgraded to the 5G Apple iPhone 12 Mini. AT&T let me have a new one for just under $500. For a 256GB hard drive, I said ‘good enough’ and sent the order.

what will happen to my iPhone 6s? Nothing. Since I still have speakers in my home with a wired connection, my 6S is going to smoothly transition into him iPod Touch.

I haven’t taken it out of the box yet because I know I’ll need to dedicate a 2-hour block of time to obsessing over the Apple phone. Speaking of obsessing.

Apple Event 14 September 2021

Apple is hosting an event Tuesday, September 14th. I’m tuning in because I’ve been ready to upgrade my MacBook pro since 2019. New MacBook rumors are things like Apple dropped the touch bar, brought back the magnetic charging port and connector, and also brought back the SD card slot.

I don’t think very highly of rumors. So, I’ll be watching the show – or at least the MacBook portion of it. The other very important details I care about are the release date and shipping estimate time.

With Nashville Software School(NSS) class going hot and steady, I’ll have to decide between two options:

  • Trade in my 2015 MacBook Pro and use my Windows 10 machine until the new MacBook Pro is delivered
  • Keep my 2015 MacBook Pro without trading it in

With the second option, I could always try to sell the MacBook Pro to a private buyer later vs letting it disappear into obscurity like the Mac Mini I have sitting a box somewhere. That’s an option. It’s likely I will keep it because I rarely touch my windows computer outside of running updates.

Switching to Windows is not Simple

Also, if I haven’t mentioned yet I NSS is hard. It’s fun, and I love the learning environment and what I’m learning. But this sh*t is hard. There is nothing appealing to me about the idea of switching over to Windows with all of its quirks and differences from Apple OS. Nope, I would cause myself a lot of unnecessary stress, and the only benefit would be to save a few hundred dollars. I know Apple would give me pennies (MAYBE $400-500) for my 6 year old MacBook Pro as a trade-in – which would be a slap in the face. And, I would be stuck with the Windows machine for weeks while they decide the value and ship my 2021 MacBook Pro.

No, man. That’s a hard pass. Kinda looks like I’ve already decided on not trading, I guess.
