In high school English class with M(r)s Bourgeois, a fixation with writers began. Specifically, I noticed some books are worthy enough that grade school kids read them as part of the curriculum. the appreciation started with fiction.
A good story
When the reader is impacted in a way that makes them want to tell someone else about it, that’s what I mean by worthy enough. A reader decides,”Someone else can get something positive from reading this.”
A good story leaves something with you. I admire the reverence. I admire the way a story can continue being told after the person who wrote it passes. I challenge myself to write things someone wants to tell another person about.
A good written story
With a good written story, the person gets to imagine more because they don’t have visual information or sound. They get to visualize every element of what they’re reading about. People who love to read, get high doses of satisfaction when they get to use their imagination.
Some of them admire the feeling enough to become a person who creates the kinds of written stories they admire. They’re called storytellers, but if their stories earn an income, they’re called authors.
I say this is the first time I’ve talked about the admiration out loud, but it’s the first time I’ve figured out the origin of the admiration. I did think the description I wrote for this post is compelling the way it is. I hope that doesn’t seem deceptive; I just didn’t want to use more words. I can be blamed for being lazy.
Here’s a hard truth about narcissistic patterns: they tell you how you should feel.
Hashtag work in progress.
In conclusion
I appreciate telling a story that sticks because of how much I appreciate stories that stick with me.
