I got my first rejection message today. It was a very polite email. There’s nothing I appreciate more than an answered question. Consequently, there are few things I loath more than unanswered questions.

My résumé snippet

I genuinely appreciate companies responding to me after I apply. It removes the guesswork and let’s me know I don’t need to submit another application there.

I did expect to receive more responses. But, I’ve only applied to jobs that are not explicitly asking for a portfolio. Also, I haven’t applied to any government positions or contracts.

For some reason, government job listings seem to be allergic to listing salary information. Not sure what that’s about.

Speaking of goverment jobs, I’m on a mission to find out what agency(ies) built and manage the VA’s myHealtheVet and eBenefits platforms. I have many ideas, and these are missions I’m personally invested in seeing be as awesome as possible for Veterans.
