Thinking about Bubblehead and Homebuying

This morning, I talked with a friend about home buying. She asked if I still had plans to build a quonset hut home. I’m definitely still onboard for my dream home, Bubblehead.

This morning, a friend asked me if I still had plans to build my dream home, Bubblehead. The answer is absolutely. I will build my dream home…eventually.

Before I start construction on that forever home, I want to have 1 to 2 rental properties. That number will ultimately be determined by how much I’m earning from the properties. I say 1 to 2 because I haven’t personally crossed that bridge yet, so I don’t know what my tolerance level will be in the future.

Studied available VA Loans

I spent some time on the internet pricing Quonset hut buildings and reading about types of VA home loans — including construction loans — for multifamily homes. The good news is steel homes are still cheaper to build than traditional homes.

Also, I discovered you can get a VA loan for constructing your home. Building a multifamily home is on the table for my home buying, but it’s the last option.

A Quonset hut home walkthrough

Here’s a video of a couple’s Quonset hut vacation home build. It’s a good video, but don’t expect a step-by-step style. I like the way this couple planned and built a lot of cool details in the house — especially the drywall mounting system. Also, I appreciate the Clair De Lune mixed into the video.

Here’s the video:

Here’s Clair De Lune played by an artist (Rousseau) who’s YouTube videos of him playing piano are extremely satisfying. You’ll see why.
